The same goes for someone who grew up across the globe
The book about this mini-era in North Carolina Tar Heels basketball is still under construction. If the Heels beat Gonzaga for the national championship on Monday (9:20 p.m. ET, CBS), everything that’s happened in the last four years will feel differently than if they don’t. Last year’s title game loss to Villanova could read like the chapter that sets up the climax later in the book, and every March sadness for the Justin Jackson-Kennedy Meeks-Isaiah Hicks Heels will merely be the prologue.
The Heels probably aren’t thinking about anything other than what’s in front of them. But they’re 40 minutes from either redemption or a second annual ripping of their hearts from their chests. The last two seasons, in particular, will boil down to two devastating moments or one really happy one that required lots of perseverance. The Heels are great, but because we view sports as long stories, those are the stakes.
“It was crazy. It was surreal,” Jones said. “I don’t think there’s a Cheap Ireland Football Jerseys basketball player that could have walked through that door that could have gave us as good of a feeling.”
For players like Mathews, who grew up idolizing Bryant in Los Angeles, meeting Kobe felt like a dream come true. The same goes for someone who grew up across the globe, like freshman Killian Tillie.
“Everyone knows him,” said the French forward. “To see Cheap Ireland Rugby Jerseys him in person was amazing.”
